Byron Mudhune
Byron is MafAfrique’s Co-founder and Chairman. He drives the company’s strong commitment in Africa and stakeholder management in Europe and Asia. He has 20 years invaluable expertise in strategy development and business transformation, enterprise risk, project management and governance insights acquired from working across assignments in Africa, Europe, Middle East and Asia.
Prior to Co-founding the company, he served both private and public sector in senior management positions promoting trade, development and business growth as strategy and business transformation professional at Industrial and Commercial development Corporation, PwC East Africa, Kenya Airways and much earlier in his career, ABN AMRO Bank, Citibank, JP Morgan Investment bank and Lloyds TSB bank in Kenya, England and Asia Pacific.
He is a chartered banker and a graduate of both University of Nairobi and Portsmouth University in business economics, finance and banking as well as certified enterprise risk manager. He has undergone training in corporate governance and served as Chairman of the Board of Kenya National Trading Corporation, Chairman of the Board of Meru Greens Horticulture EPZ in addition to other independent non executive board positions.
Giovanni Hopps
Giovanni is a passionate entrepreneur and Agribusiness lead mainly for Emerging European markets offering over 18 years experience driving project management for new project acceptability testing; project demonstrations; Media presentations, Quality certification systems; Public (European) and private tender experience and Business development mainly in Energy and Integrated industrial projects. Giovanni is also accomplished instructor in research and individual studies regarding human behavioral change resulting from cognitive and emotional stimulation.
Prior to joining MafAfrique, Giovanni served in business development, project management and administrative roles in FFE Holdings, J.L.R.R 2015 EOOD Kyustendil – Bulgaria and Da.Ma. Costruzioni S.r.l Fiumicino – Roma, Italy. Other companies he has worked for in his earlier professional career include Marine Composites S.R.L. Cantiere Navale (shipyards) – Mazara Del Vallo Italy and S. Rosalia Immobiliare S.r.l. – Mazara Del Vallo Italy.
He speaks French, Italian, Spanish and English fluently and graduated from Liceo Scientifico Statale G.P Ballatore, Mazara Del Vallo – Italy.
Muriithi Wanjau
Wanjaŭ is passionate about entrepreneurship in Africa and has been in legal practice for over 20 years dealing with Conveyancing and Property Law, including securities. He is also involved in Intellectual Property Law, Trademarks, Patents Registration, Copyright Work and the Law and Practice surrounding Utility Models, Trade Names and Industrial Designs.
He offers services as a Partner under Wanjao and Wanjau advocates to corporate clients on specific legal issues, Governance & Compliance and Corporate Secretarial Services. Maintaining statutory records, minute books, registers of members, directors and secretaries, encumbrances and director interest in shares and generally ensuring compliance with various Statutes; providing advisory services on type and mode of preparation of agendas, notices and minutes tailored to the needs of a specific company. He has played a major role in corporate governance issues and has been Company Secretary on retainer basis, attending Board meetings and following implementation of Board decisions as well as conduct of other Company Secretarial/Administrative work of various business concerns and NGOs and tendering legal advice and opinions on investment law and compliance with Central Bank requirements and the Capital Markets Authority, dealing with investments of funds and asset management.
He speaks both English and kiswahili fluently and is regularly involved in Arbitration and Mediation, Negotiation of Amicable Settlements of Debts (Large amount collection), Employment and Labor issues, Tax matters, restructuring and re-engineering organizations as well as setting a fully fledged legal department in commercial entities as well as involved in registration of various entities (NGOs, societies, partnerships, companies etc).
Mary Muthoni
Ms.Muthoni is a seasoned entrepreneur with a track record of establishing businesses across Kenya.
Over the last 20 years she has been involved in setting up some of the most successful enterprises in Kenya spanning from developments of multi million residential developments in the up-market Lavington suburb of Nairobi, Kenya to setting up and operationalisig supplies, distribution and inventory management for leading industrial and manufacturing companies in Kenya.
She is the current owner and proprietor of Wawai Enterprises Limited a Development, Turaco Energy, Mount Kenya Breweries as well as owner and proprietor of Prime Portfolio Limited. Her other business interests include managing infrastructure projects under contract from both the Kenyan Urban Roads Authority (KURA) and the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KRRA).
She speaks both English and Kiswahili fluently and is trained in all aspects of entrepreneurship both locally and internationally. She serves on the Board of several other companies.
Moses Nkomo
A passionate, highly motivated law advocate and pan African thought leader, Moses Nkomo has over seventeen years’ experience as a registered practising Investment, Corporate and Intellectual Property attorney in Zimbabwe and Southern Africa region , and over ten years’ experience as a consultant, researcher and resource person on various areas of law and policy.
He has been a lecturer of Intellectual Property law and Insurance law at the University of Zimbabwe since 2007, lectured Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights for the WIPO funded Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property Law at Africa University from 2011 to 2013 and is currently also the Acting Director of the Intellectual Property Legal Support Centre at the University of Zimbabwe’s Faculty of Law. Besides is many roles, he is also the Senior Partner of Donsa-Nkomo & Mutangi Legal Practice, a commercial law firm with a special interest in corporate law, trade and investment, intellectual property law and strategy and Deputy General Secretary of the Africa Business & Law Experts (ABLE) Network, a pan-African Network of Business lawyers.
In 2014, Moses was selected to participate in former US President Barack Obama’s flagship Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders as one of the merging business leaders on the African continent. He was mentored by leading business Professors at Yale University and interned with Microsoft Corporation.
Moses is a holder of a Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree, a Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property and an Executive Master’s Degree in Business Administration and is working towards a Doctor of Laws degree with the University of South Africa.
